Kamil Podolsky – My Pilot Story

Thank you kindly to Mr. Kamil Podalsky in the Czech Republic for working with us to test new helicopter headset designs! Kamil, who has a great sense of humor, brings great style to our team! Here’s his story, in his own words. We hope you also find him inspiring. Please enjoy!

In His Own Words

It all started when I was a little boy. My dad was an army helicopter pilot at the time on the Mi-24, Mi-8 and Mi-17. Almost every night before going to bed he told me about aviation and his stories of flying in the army instead of fairy tales. He was and still is a great inspiration for me. Since that time my goal was clear: I want to become a helicopter pilot. I´ve had aviation as my hobby all my life, studying books, attending airshows, watching aerial movies and always looking up at the sky when I heard the roaring helicopter rotors.

When I was 16 years old I started a pilot training to obtain a private pilot license of PPL(H) at HELI CZECH s.r.o. company (Czech Republic) and at the age of 17 I successfully obtained it. Since that time I have mostly flown overflights to various aviation events throughout the Czech Republic and surrounding states, flights for private purposes, check flights and also training flights with an instructor from mentioned company for refreshing and improving advanced emergency procedures. From my point of view the training of Emergency Procedures is never enough

because every pilot quickly and easily forgets it by non-repetition and as soon as this situation occurs for real the pilot must be 110% sure what to quickly do.

At the age of 23  I have done two more important pilot courses. The first was a Commercial Helicopter Pilot CPL(H) and a few months later Instructor´s license FI(H). As soon as I obtained these qualifications the number of flights rapidly increased and since then I have flying as main job at the  Hradec Králové Airport (LKHK).

I am currently 26 years old and I am full-time pilot at HELI CZECH s.r.o. company. I am mostly dedicated to Flight School, HeliTaxi, Sightseeing Flights, Aerial Work and also Aviation Management. My greatest aviation experience to date is several years of international training of many groups of army helicopter pilots where I flew for several hundred hours as an instructor.

The Stats

My approx flight hours (fh) to 14.11.2020

Total: 1 400 fh

PIC: 1 150 fh

FI(H): 550 fh

My type rating: MD500E, BELL 206B, R44, R22 and soon AW-119 or AH-1S COBRA.

Thank you to everyone who has read this briefly written aviation story to the end and I hope that for someone it can be at least a small motivation for aviation life. If anyone has a question about my story or aviation, please do not hesitate to contact me – Instragram: @kapo_pilot / Facebook: Kamil PodolskĂ˝

How Do You Make an Airplane Headset Better?

Innovation Is Our Passion

At Dalcomm Tech it’s literally our job to improve existing technology and tools. It’s not just our job, it’s our passion.

We put our mind to the aviation headset and our proud to announce 4 new models! These are designed to go head to head with models you may be familiar with already, but, our headsets have:

Better features

Model J7GA – The Discerning Airplane Pilot’s Choice

J7-GA

This is the starting point. Everyone knows this basic headset. So how do you improve it?

Dalcomm adds better frequency response earphone and microphone. You know how the standard model makes you sound like a subway station announcer, all muffled and tinny? That’s actually on purpose. Military headset folks came to the conclusion that they could cancel out all the frequencies except the mid range of human voice from 300Hz to 5kHz and block noise that way. True, it works to a certain extent but sounds quite unpleasant. We open that window up a bit to 8kHz. The noise cancelling feature is still there but it’s so much easier and pleasant to listen to.

The ear seal is the largest portion of the headset that actually makes contact with you. Why be stuck with what the manufacturer decides is most comfortable? We give you the choice.

Ever buy something and realize you don’t have everything you need to make it truly useful to you? We include everything you need for this headset: Headset, cable, cable clip, headset carry bag, pen. Yes, we give you a pen too. Because we know having a nice pen is also pleasant. We give you not just everything you need, but little extras because that’s how we roll. We want your headset to be the most pleasant experience, second best only to flying itself.

Model J7H – The Discerning Helicopter Pilot’s Choice

Helicopter plugSimilar in all respects to the J7GA but with coiled cord and U-174/U plug. So, all the same improvements as J7GA:

Your choice of ear seals

Better frequency response earphones

Better frequency response mic

Comes with canvas carry bag

We also include a pen in the pen pouch. Why have an empty pen pouch? And because we’re helicopter pilot fans we include a cool Dalcomm keychain. Helicopters are just plain awesome.

Model J7 Pilot’s Headset – Communicate on a Higher Plane

Model J7 GAPilot’s Headset? What kind of pilot, airplane, helicopter, glider, airboat operator? Ok, that’s operator not a pilot, but it’s still loud and our headset still works there. How? Model J7 Pilot’s headset takes the Model J7 Series one step further by adding the versatility of a changeable cable. You can plug into whatever kind of aircraft or craft you fancy. One headset to work with them all.

Better still? Yes. Adapter SBG-4 with a 3.5mm plug and SBJ-USB-PTT allows use with simulators, computer simulators, smartphones and more. SBJ-USB-PTT has a configurable output for the PTT button just tell us what you want it to do.

Better even still? Yes. You can choose what ear seals you’d like. In a super rugged outdoor setting you may prefer simple foam seals. In a more comfortable cockpit you might prefer the luxurious protein leather seals. Or perhaps you prefer the memory foam/gel plush ear seals. You have options.

We should mention we have youth size headbands too. Some of us have a smaller hat size. No worries, we got you covered.

Model J1 Carbon fiber – The Premium Aviation Headset

J3 HeadsetWhen we say ‘aviation headset’ we mean all aviation. The J1 Pilot’s headset has an interchangeable cable, meaning that you can use a fixed wing general aviation dual plugs adapter or a U-174/U Helicopter plug adapter. Better than that, we have options for USB and 3.5mm meaning you can use it for training, video conferencing or even just mowing the lawn.

We’ve added options for what ear seals you want, and what kind of mic. In short it’s fully customizable. Not custom enough? Just drop us a line to sales@dalcommtech.com and tell us what you want. We do special order products too.

And, it’s hand crafted Carbon Fiber. Real, genuine, lustrous carbon fiber. Enough said, but, we’ll say more. Carbon fiber is Lamborghinis and experimental aircraft. Carbon fiber is light. This headset weighs 10.7 oz. You will literally forget you’re wearing it.

Oh yeah, one more feature we think you’ll appreciate: All four models include 3.5mm jacks for aux audio input. Add some background music, a personal soundtrack to your flying adventures.

Better Price

Usually better means more expensive. In this case, part of our requirement for redesign was that better also meant ‘Less Expensive’. Here’s an example: You can find “The other guy” online at $320 our Model J7GA at $292. And watch for sales. We offer additional discounts with coupons and special sales.

Part of having a better price is redesigning the dealer model. Are you a flight school or small airport avionics shop looking for headsets? You may have been turned down by the big guys with ridiculous sales quotes and minimum spends that nobody today could reasonable afford. Contact us today and find out what specialized offer we can make for your specific needs: Call 800-593-6501 or email sales@dalcommtech.com

Better Service

Not only are we super nice and friendly on the phone, and in email, but we’re concerned with your safety too. We clean and sterilize all incoming repairs and service requests as well as, of course, all new product going out. There are officially authorized Dalcomm warranty service facilities in the UK serving UK and the EU, one in Chile serving South America and two shops in the US that handle North America.

Better Warranty

All our aviation headsets carry the Dalcomm Premium Warranty. “The other guy” offers 60 months, and that’s not bad, but, we offer 5 years and 5 months. There are Dalcomm certified warranty repair facilities on three continents. Visit our resellers page to find the one you’re looking for. We’ll always contact you first before we perform any work. No surprise bills.

Better in every way? Not yet. Stay tuned, we’re still innovating.
